'Stark'

'Stark' was a 2-row non-malting barley released by NDSU in 1991. It has stiff straw, large kernels and appears best adapted to western ND and adjacent western states. 'Stark' is about 1-day later and 2-inches shorter with test weight equal or better than Bowman. 'Stark' yields about 10% better than Bowman. It is moderately resistant to net and spot blotch but is susceptible to loose smut, leaf rust and the QCC race of wheat stem rust.
