Novel Drug Delivery System for Treatment of Cancer, Diabetes, and Other Diseases

RFT-388

Scientists working at North Dakota State University have discovered a novel way to provide efficient nucleic acid delivery and RNA to the human body.  To do this, they have synthesized a series of hydrophobically modified low molecular weight chitosan derivatives with increasing chain length of fatty acids and capric acid in order to develop a highly efficient, novel, and non-viral gene and DNA vaccine delivery vector.  This technology can be used for the in-vivo delivery of gene, DNA vaccine, or RNAi for the treatment and prevention of various deadly diseases such as Hepatitis B, diabetes, and cancer.
