Dakota Trailblazer' is aptly named because it is the first potato cultivar release from the North Dakota Agricultural Experiment Station with the ability to be processed into French fries. Its attributes include its beautiful appearance and its ability to process from colder storage temperatures (42F versus 48F for Russet Burbank). Additionally, Dakota Trailblazer requires significantly less nitrogen compared to the industry standard, Russet Burbank. It also has very low sucrose content.
